The iPhone 5 Cometh… Can’t Wait!

Like all the other apple nerds out there, I pre-ordered my iPhone 5 for delivery on the 21st of September. As a rabid user of Apple devices, and an iOS developer as well, I’m definitely excited to get my hands on it. I’ll post some first impressions and comments once my new baby gets here.

Hey Seattle Drivers, Jesus Tap-Dancing Christ, Please Learn How To Make an Unprotected Left-Hand Turn

Stop Sign w/4-Way Stop

OK folks, seriously. It never fails to amaze me how many people in Seattle either don’t get it, don’t care, or just never learned how to properly make an unprotected left-hand turn. It’s quite simple really…

If you are at a 4-way stop sign, you are trying to make a left turn, and there is a car across the intersection from you that is going to go straight (cross the intersection towards you), THEY GO FIRST, NOT YOU. You let them cross, THEN you make your left-hand turn behind them after they have crossed.

It is dangerous, and frankly completely illogical for you to make a left-hand turn IN FRONT OF A CAR that is going to cross the interaction. And I find it even more aggravating if I’m the one trying to make the left, patiently waiting for you to drive across the intersection, to then look over and see you red-faced honking and waving at me to go. In this case good citizen and neighbor, YOU GO FIRST.

So put your damn middle-finger down and take your righteous hand off the horn as you illegally turn in front of me. You, my smart friend, are in fact the one doing it incorrectly.

Working on bit.ly Tools Update

bit.ly Tools IconWell, I’m finally getting back to updating a few of my iPhone applications that I have available in the iOS App Store. One of the services I use, bit.ly, has some new features I want to make advantage of in my application, but it is definitely going to require a bit of re-work for sure. Should be interesting. Well for me anyway!

Great night at 20something

I went to the 20something event put on by the Washington Wine Commission this past Saturday night, and as with previous years, it didn’t disappoint. Lots of great wineries were present pouring some pretty great stuff. Add the great DJ to the mix and it was night of smiles and purple teeth all around!

Headed to Bookwalter Winery, Chapter 4 Release Party Tonight!

Once again this year, I purchased an auction item from the Auction of Washington Wines for the annual release party at Bookwalter Winery’s tasting room in Woodinville. This Chapter series has seen some pretty amazing wine, and I’m looking forward to tasting the latest edition tonight. Heading over with a group of friends for what I’m sure will be a great night of food, fun and wine. I’m just hoping we avoid some of the snow that they’ve been talking about in the forecast!

Site is Back Up

Well boys and girls, you’d think that I would know better–but just to re-emphasize a point–ALWAYS BACK UP! After a server failure, I managed to lose my database which stored all of my WordPress content. So lets just say that I now have a solid backup in place and will be slowly trying to reconstruct the website. Look for pictures and posts to start appearing again, but I’m guessing most of the content will be “new going-forward” types of stuff. Lets face it–who really has time to re-construct the past.
